The very beginning of an Alleyn’s education – where curiosity takes its first steps.
Our Pre-Reception welcomes children aged 3+, the year before they join Reception, offering a joyful, discovery-rich journey in a warm and nurturing North London environment where every day inspires curiosity, creativity and confidence.
Within the ethos of the Alleyn’s Schools Group, early learning is active, expressive and deeply meaningful. Children learn through purposeful play, exploration and hands-on experiences that bring learning to life.
Our youngest learners benefit from the exceptional opportunities of our unique location – from early science sessions at London Zoo, to nature walks and mini-expeditions across Regent’s Park, and real-world exploration in the local community. These experiences help children make sense of their world, develop early thinking skills and spark a lifelong love of discovery.
Guided by expert Early Years teachers, each child is nurtured as an individual. Through the foundations of AiQ, AEQ and our ROCCK values, children begin to build independence, emotional confidence and early problem-solving skills – developing the curiosity, resilience and creativity that define an Alleyn’s education.
Our Spaces
Our thoughtfully designed Early Years environment for Pre-Reception gives children the freedom to explore, imagine and grow.
Light-filled classrooms with clearly defined zones for creativity, construction, role play and calm reflection support a balance of independent learning and guided exploration. Every area is crafted to encourage curiosity, collaboration and confident early communication.
Children also benefit from:
- A nurturing, purpose-designed Pre-Reception classroom that encourages imagination, early literacy and expressive arts
- Access to The Well, where early wellbeing, emotional awareness and social confidence begin to develop
- Access to All Studios, where the foundations of AiQ come to life — introducing age-appropriate digital awareness, problem-solving, pattern recognition and early computational thinking through hands-on, playful learning experiences
- Opportunities for movement, art, music and sensory exploration within their own classrooms and dedicated school spaces designed to inspire expression and confidence
- A seamless, supported transition into Reception, reinforced by familiar staff, shared routines and consistent Alleyn’s values
Every space has been created to inspire wonder, build confidence and give children room to thrive in their earliest years.
Outdoor Learning
Outdoor learning is at the heart of our Pre-Reception experience. With Regent’s Park on our doorstep and London Zoo just moments away, children experience daily moments of sensory exploration, real-world science and imaginative play. Regular Forest School-style sessions bring movement, risk-taking and reflection into play, while excursions into the local environment – parks, ponds, nature corners – encourage real-life enquiry.
At Alleyn’s Regent’s Park, children learn through meaningful, hands-on experiences in nature. This connection nurtures resilience, curiosity and care for their community and their environment, skills that support a confident transition into Reception and beyond.
Alongside these structured outdoor experiences, children also enjoy moments of free-flow exploration, where imagination leads, questions emerge and meaningful curiosity flourishes.
